Asha Bhosle – a legendary singer – died – born on 8th September, 1933 – in Goar ( presently in Maharashtra) – one of the greatest singers in Indian cinema – a career of almost eight decades – she sang not only in Hindi – also in more than twenty languages – she sang more than 12000 songs – including film music, pop, ghazals, bhajans, Rabindra Sangeet,folk songs, qawwalis, etc – had received 7 Filmfare Best Female Playback Awards – Special Award for Rangeela in 1996 – Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001 – she won the National Film Award for Best Female Playback singer in 1981 and 1986 – received IIFA Awards in 2002 – first Indian singer to be nominated for the Grammy Award – received Maharashtra State Award – received Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000 – for outstanding contribution to Indian Cinema – also honoured with Padma Vibhushan by Government of India – this legendary singer died on 12th April, 2026 in Mumbai – at the age of 92 – a great loss
