Sikkim tunnel collapsed – unfortunate and horrible – tunnel was under construction – in Namchi district, Sikkim – on 22nd July – NHPC Teesta Stage VI Hydropower Project tunnel –  accident occurred – due to a sudden burst of suspected methane gas trapped inside the rock – caused explosion, dense fumes and toxic gases – inside the tunnel workers were trapped – rescue operation started – 25 died – compensation from NHPC , Sikkim Government and Central Government
