A long 22 years of wait has ended for East Bengal FC as they won the crown of ISL or Indian Super League 2026 . They achieved any top – tier title of Indian football after 22 years. It is their first ISL title. In the last match they defeated Inter Kashi by 2-1 in Kishore Bharati Krirangan, Kolkata on Thursday, 21st May, 2026 . Alfred Planas scored the goal for Inter Kashi in the 14th minute of the match. Youssef Ezzejjari scored the equalizer for the Red and Gold ( East Bengal) brigade in the 50th minute of the match. But they needed a win to achieve the title. Tension was growing. Then in the 72nd minute of the match, Mohammed Rashid scored the second goal for them . The victory ensured their title and they finished with 26 points in their 13 matches. Mohun Bagan also secured the same points in the same matches by winning their last match against Sporting Club Delhi by 2-1 . But East Bengal was superior by a goal difference of five. So Mohun Bagan finished as runners – up . East Bengal’s head coach Oscar Bruzon led the team so positively. Youssef Ezzejjari from East Bengal won the Golden Boot award by scoring most goals
( 11 goals ) and Miguel Figuera from East Bengal won the Golden Ball award for being the Player of the tournament. Hrithik Tiwari from FC Goa achieved the Golden Glove award for being the best goalkeeper in the tournament. It is a great moment for the supporters of East Bengal FC. Another time a football club from Kolkata achieved the top most title of Indian football.
