Asian Games 2026 and India’s Performance

The 2026 Asian Games is just over . This was the 20th edition of the game held in Aichi – Nagoya in Japan. This  multi-sport event was held in Nagoya city of the Aichi Prefecture in Japan from 19 September to 4 October 2026. This time 46 Nations and 10787 athletes participated in the games. There were 469 events in 43 sports categories. It was opened by Naruhito, the Japanese emperor on 19th September and ended by Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, the President of the Olympic Council of Asia on 4th October, 2026. The motto of the game was ‘Imagine One Asia.’ China ranked top with 169 Gold, 89 Silver , 83 Bronze and a total of 341 medals. Japan ranked second with 83 Gold, 95 Silver, 91 Bronze and a total of 269 medals. South Korea ranked third with 39 Gold, 43 Silver, 68 Bronze and a total of 150 medals.

India ranked fourth with  21 Gold,  27 Silver, 37 Bronze and a total of 85 medals. A total of 495 competitors participated in 36 sports for India. Manu Bhaker was the Flag bearer for India in the opening ceremony and Neeru Dhanda was the Flag bearer for India in the closing ceremony.
