ICC World Test Championship 2023 is just over now. The Final was played between Australia and India in The Oval, London , England from 7th to 11th June . Australia defeated India to become the champion . Again a disappointment for the Indian cricket team. They lost two consecutive ICC World Test Championship finals since the inception of the tournament in 2021 . Travis Head became the Player of the Match in the final . Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and selected to ball first. Australia scored 469 in their first innings. Travis Head scored 163 in just 174 balls and Steve Smith scored 121 . Md. Siraj took 4 wickets for 108 runs for India. In reply India scored just 296 in their first innings. Ajinkya Rahane scored 89, Shardul Thakur scored 51 . Australian skipper Pat Cummins took 3 wickets for 83 runs . Australia had a huge lead of 173 runs . In the second innings Australia declared after scoring 270/ 8. Their wicketkeeper Alex Carey scored 66 not out and Mitchell Starc scored 41 runs for them and Ravindra Jadeja took 3 wickets for 58 runs in the final for India. India needed to score 444 runs in the second innings to win the match. They managed to score just 234 and lost the match badly by a huge margin of 189 runs . In the second innings Viral Kohli scored 49 and Ajinkya Rahane scored 46 runs for India and Nathan Lyon took 4 wickets for Australia and conceded just 41 runs .
