Every year World Rivers Day is celebrated on the 4th Sunday of September. This year in 2022 it is going to be celebrated on 25th.
It was started with Water for Life Decade in 2005 , launched by United Nations. Which ultimately led to create the World Rivers Day. This was happened in the response to a proposal provided by a worldwide eminent river advocate Mark Angelo.
This day is celebrated to spread awareness about the rivers and its conservation and management. Rivers are blessing of mankind . But some of our activities are polluting the rivers, destructing it’s biodiversity, obstructing their flow, also decreasing their natural depth . So we should be more conscious about our activities. We should love to save our rivers .
Let’s join the Event-
1.Make a suitable poster on World Rivers Day .
2.Suppose your Geography teacher has organised a group discussion on the importance of rivers for human civilization. You are a group of five students . Write ✍️ down the points may be used in this discussion.
3.Draw a picture on the subject- ” River and a Village.”
4. Write down some measures to protect our rivers.
