India has done really well in the Hyundai World Archery Championship, 2023 in Berlin, Germany. Indian women’s compound team of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Parneet Kaur and Aditi Gopichand Swami defeated Mexican team of Dafne Quintero, Ana Sofia Hernandez Jeon and Andrea Becerra by 235-229 in the final to clinch the gold medal. It is India’s first ever gold in World Archery in any category.
Then the teenage sensation Aditi Gopichand Swami of India clinched a gold medal in the individual compound event by defeating Andrea Bacerra of Mexico by 149-147 in the final . She is just 17 years of age and she has clinched the gold as the youngest ever in the history of the tournament. It is India’s first ever individual gold medal in the tournament. India’s Jyothi Surekha Vennam defeated Ipek Tomruk of Turkey by 150-146 to win the bronze medal in this category.
21 year old Ojas Pravin Deotale also won a gold medal in the men’s individual compound event by defeating Lukasz Przybylski by 150-149 in the final. It is the first ever gold medal for India in the men’s event in the history of the tournament.
