Women’s Premier League 2023 or TATA WPL 2023 was organised in India recently . It was the first season of the franchise based T20 tournament organised by BCCI or Board of Control for Cricket in India . The tournament continued from 4th to 26th March. Five teams participated and they are – Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, UP Warriorz, Gujrat Giants, Royal Challengers Bangalore . Mumbai Indians became the champion of the first season and they defeated Delhi Capitals in the final. In Eliminator Mumbai Indians defeated UP Warriorz and qualified for final to play with Delhi Capitals. The final was played in Brabourne Stadium , Mumbai . In the final Mumbai Indians beat Delhi Capitals by 7 wickets. Delhi Capitals scored 131/9 in their 20 overs and Mumbai Indians reached the target by scoring 134/3 in 19.3 overs . Nat Sciver – Brunt from Mumbai Indians became the Player of the match by scoring 60 not out in just 55 balls . The Orange Cap holder of the tournament is Meg Lanning from Delhi Capitals for scoring most runs in the tournament ( 345 runs ) and the Purple Cap holder of the tournament is Hayley Matthews from Mumbai Indians for taking most wickets in the final ( 16 wickets ) . Player of the Tournament award went to Hayley Matthews ( Mumbai Indians ).
