West Bengal regained supremacy in the Santosh Trophy again. The men’s football team of West Bengal won the prestigious football tournament, Santosh Trophy 2024-25 by defeating Kerala 1-0 in the final on 31st December, 2024 at the GMC Balayogi Stadium , Hyderabad. It was the 78th edition of the tournament and West Bengal won this for the record breaking 33rd time . Two teams played the final cautiously and match was almost going towards extra time. But West Bengal’s star Robi Hansda came to rescue the team by scoring the only goal in the 90+4th minute of the match. He scored 12 goals in the tournament and also achieved two top awards of the tournament. He achieved the Tulsidas Balaram Player of the Match award and also the Peter Thangaraj Player of the Tournament award. West Bengal’s coach Sanjay Sen guided the team towards the victory.
