Ustad Zakir Hussain, the Tabla maestro from India died on 15th December in a hospital in San Francisco, USA at the age of 73 . He died due to complications from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. One of the greatest of all time, Ustad Zakir Hussain left his extraordinary legacy behind. He was born on 9th March, 1951. Legendary Tabla master Ustad Alla Rakha was his father. He is famous throughout the world as an international personality. He worked with several renowned national and international artists like Pandit Ravi Shankar, Ali Akbar Khan , Shivkumar Sharma,L. Shankar, Vinayakram , John McLaughlin , Yo- Yo Ma, Bela Fleck, Charles Lloyd, George Harrison , etc. He was awarded four Grammy awards. Among these four he received three awards in the 66th Grammy awards ceremony this year. He was honoured with Padma Shri in 1998, Padma Bhushan in 2002 and Padma Vibhushan in 2023 . He left his wife Antonia Minnecola and daughters Anisha Qureshi and Isabella Qureshi . It is a really a very sad moment for us and a great loss to the world of music.
