Sunita Williams flew to space for the third time from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida , USA . Indian – origin astronaut Sunita Williams was accompanied by Butch Wilmore in this mission. They were aboard a Boeing’s Starliner Spacecraft to the International Space Station. Sunita Williams was the pilot of the mission and Wilmore was the commander. After a flight of 26 hours they reached the International Space Station on Friday at 11:04 pm IST . 58 year old Sunita and 61 years old Wilmore created history as the first members aboard Boeing’s Starliner Spacecraft. Sunita Williams scripted another history as being the first ever woman pilot of a newly launched spacecraft. Sunita Williams broke into an impromptu dance while entering the International Space Station and received the ‘ Bell Rings’ welcome along with her colleague Wilmore . The Expedition 71 crew members were already present there and they greeted them in the space station. A video of the moment was shared by NASA on their social media handle. Williams entered the zero gravity space station with a dancing step . Williams also went to the space expedition two times earlier – Expedition 14/15 in 2006 and Expedition 32/33 in 2012 . She received her commission as an Ensign in the United States Navy from the United States Naval Academy in May 1987 and she was selected as an astronaut in 1998 by NASA . She has an experience of staying for 322 days in space before this Boeing’s Starliner Spacecraft mission. She also had a record of spacewalks. She walked for 50 hours 40 minutes in space . After spending one week in orbit they will board the Starliner to return home . It is a very crucial mission because the success of the mission will create a milestone for the future of human spaceflight or space tourism.
