The SOF International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) is a prestigious annual academic competition to examine the knowledge and skills of students in class 1-12 in various areas of mathematics and its applications.

Organised by – Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF)

Eligibility –

Level 1 –
Students from classes 1 – 12, enrolled in a school recognized by SOF are eligible for IMO

Level 2 –
Students from class 3 – 12 . Class-wise top 5% of the participating students in the level 1 exam are selected for the level 2 exam



Dates of Exam this year –
Level 1 Exam Date 1: 12th November 2025
Level 1 Exam Date 2: 28th November 2025
Level 1 Exam Date 3: 12th December 2025


Duration – 1 hour

Language – English


The exam pattern and syllabus –

The questions are multiple-choice type problem-solving tasks.

Class- I to IV –  35 questions of a total of 40 marks.

Class- V to XII –   50 questions of a total of 60 marks.

The syllabus for IMO level 1 and 2-  algebra, trigonometry, geometry, linear equations, differential equations, limits and derivatives, integers, and probability. Participants are required to demonstrate their ability to apply theoretical knowledge to solve real-world problems and think critically about complex mathematical problems.


Awards/ Scholarships/ Recognition-

Winners of the SOF International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) 2025-26 will be presented with a range of IMO awards and scholarships including international, zonal, and school topper awards for classes 1 to 12.

The top three international rank holders will receive cash awards, medals, and certificates, while zonal and school-level winners will also be recognized.

Schools and educators are also acknowledged for their contribution to students’ success, with awards and scholarships at international, zonal, and district levels.

Appreciation certificates and gifts are also extended to principals and teachers for their dedication and efforts.
