At last she returned. After spending more than nine months at the International Space Station Sunita Williams returned to the Earth with Butch Wilmore. She went there for a short trip of eight days but due to unexpected delays she stayed there for 286 days. The SpaceX’ s Dragon Freedom capsule spacecraft carried her to the Earth on 19th March, 2025 and splashed down off the Florida coast near Tallahassee at 3:27 IST .
Astronaut Nick Hague and Aleksandr Grebyonkin also returned with them . They were also part of the rescue plan of NASA and SpaceX and went to the International Space Station in December. Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore had circled the Earth for 4576 times and travelled 121 million miles by the time of splashdown. Now they will be under NASA’s 45 days post mission rehabilitation program to overcome the physical problems due to their mission.
