Can you imagine your present life without internet and world wide web-

Internet-

Now the internet has become the medium to connect the whole world . It is almost impossible for many of us to live a day without this. the invention and development of internet was a long process and many researchers and scientists are associated with this.

In the early 1960‘s Paul Baran proposed for a distributed networks and Donald Davies created packet switching in 1965 at NPL or National Physics Laboratory in UK. In early 1960‘s J.C.R. Licklider of MIT build the idea of ‘ Intergalactic Network‘ of computers. After that the ‘ Packet Switching’ was developed by the scientists to transmit electronic data . The first prototype of internet was ARPANET or Advanced Research Project Agency Network , established in 1969 by the U.S. Department of Defense. The project was initiated in 1966 to enable access to remote computers. The first computer was connected in 1969 and in 1970 a Network Control Program was taken.

In 1970‘s Scientists Robert Kahn and Vinton Cerf created transmission control Protocol or TCP and Internet Protocal or IP, a model for the process of data transmission among multiple networks.

In 1983 ARPANET adopted TCP / IP and it was the beginning of a new era to assemble networks of networks.

In the 1986 National Science Foundation with NSFNET project created network access to supercomputers for reaserch and academic organisation in the united States.By the 1989 and 1990 officially commercial uses of internet was started.

World Wide Web-

A British computer scientist Sir Tim Berners Lee invented WWW or World Wide Web in 1989 , which made the use of internet more popularly. Working in the CERN, a large particle physics laboratory near Geneva, Switzerland he tried to develop of his project.

In October, 1990 he has created three major technologies which are the fundamental of WWW. These are-1. HTML or HyperText Markup Language to formatting language for the web. 2. URI or Universal Resource Identifier which is a unique address to identify the each resource in the web .It is also called URL. 3. HTTP or Hypertext Transfer Protocol to allow the retrieval of linked resources from the web.

In 1993 the code was available to use royalty free basis and Tim and few others took a great role for this. In 1994 he moved to Massachusetts Institute of Technology and founded W3C or World Wide Web Consortium, an international community for developing open web standards.
