Windows is the operating system introduced by Microsoft in 20th November, 1985. It was the version 1.0 and now we are in the era of Windows 10. Through the long way of time it has been changed to provide more flexibility and utilities for the user. it was introduced as a graphical operating system shell for MS– DOS to match with the interest of of user in graphical user interfaces or GUIs. Windows 2.0 was released in December, 1987. Then Windows 2.1 was released in two different versions- Windows/286 and Windows/386.
Windows 3.0 was released in 1990 with virtual memory and loadable virtual device drivers or VxDs. Windows 3.1 was released on 1st March, 1992 and then 3.11 version was released in in August, 1993.Windows 3.2 was released in 1994.
Windows 95 was released in August, 1995 and Windows 98 in June, 1998 and in 2000, September Microsoft released the last DOS based version Windows Me or Millennium Edition.
Windows XP was released on 25th October,2001 with a redesigned user interface, start menu, task oriented Windows Explorer ,Streamlined Multimedia and networking and integrated with Microsoft .NET Passport services.
Windows Vista was released in November,2006 . Vista’s server counterpart , Windows Server 2008 was released in 2008.
Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 were released in /july,2009 and Windows 7 was released for public in October, 2009.
Windows 8 was released on 26th October,2012 with more modern features based on Microsoft Metro Design Language, Advance Start Screen, more integration with Cloud Services and online platforms like Social networks , OneDrive, Windows Store Service and windows RT. An update version named Windows 8.1 was released in October, 2013.
Windows 10 was released on July, 2015 with more changes and features. It supports universal apps and has more updated touch screen , introduced Microsoft Edge Web Browser , a virtual desktop system, Task View, supports fingerprint and face recognition, DirectX 12.
Cut, Copy and Paste
Can you imagine text editing in Computer Science without cut, copy and paste ? No body can imagine this. We must give this credit to Larry Tesler , a great computer scientist, who invented these for us. He has worked in many top most tech companies in very responsible positions but his invention of cut, copy and paste has done a revolutionary change in the era of computer science.
