This scheme was inaugurated to commemorate India’s 50th year of Independence under which a selected numbers of young scientists can get assistance to pursue research in Science and Technology. The selected candidates will get Rs. 25000 monthly in addition to their salary from the parent Institution and they will also get a grant of Rs. 5 lakh per annum by Department of Science and Technology for a periood of 5 years.The project submitted by the selected fellows will be considered by Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB) for funding . The duration of project will be for a period of 5 years.
The fellowship is open to Indian Nationals having a regular position ini a recognized Indian academic or research organization and they should possess Ph.D in Science/ Engineering /Medicine and having age between 30 to 40 years as on 31.12.2019.
