Shyam Benegal – a Veteran Film Maker of India Died

Shyam Benegal – veteran film director – died – on 23rd December, 2024 – age 90 years – suffering from chronic kidney disease – at Mumbai, Maharashtra in a hospital – born on 14th December, 1934 – in Tirumalagiri, Hyderabad( Presently in Telangana) – started as copywriter – gradually screenplay writing and film direction- received 18 National Film Awards – a Filmfare Award – a Nandi Award – ANR National Award in 2013 – also got V. Shantaram Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018 – was a Member of Rajya Sabha from 16th February, 2006 to 15th February, 2012 – honoured with Padma Shri Award in 1976 – received Padma Bhushan Award in 1991 – achieved Dada Saheb Phalke Award , the highest award in the segment of Indian film – in 2005 – He left his wife Nira Benegal and daughter Pia Benegal – was no doubt one of the best film maker in India – a news of great sadness
