Severe Cyclonic Storm Dana

Severe Cyclonic Storm Dana affected the State of West Bengal and Odisha in India. It was a tropical cyclone 🌀. The name was given by Qatar and the meaning is ‘generosity’ in Arabic . Mostly affected the coastal areas by the Bay of Bengal. Also affected Bangladesh . It was a part of the North Indian Ocean cyclone season . It was formed over the Andaman Sea on 19th October . The storm crossed the North Odisha close to Bhitarkanika and Dhamra port during 01:30 to 03:30 IST on October 25 with a wind speed of 110km / hr and gusts of 130 km / hr. Gradually weakened while surrounded by an anticyclone and completed the landfall process as a cyclonic storm at 08:30 IST with a wind speed of 80 to 90 km/ hr and gusts reached to 100 km/ hr.  Heavy to very heavy rainfall occurred in large areas of Odisha and South Bengal and continued upto the morning of October 26 . 4 people are missing and 4 people died in West Bengal . Almost 5,00,000 people evacuated in affected states and they took shelter in relief camps. Many roads were waterlogged , trees and electric poles uprooted, houses are  damaged , crops damaged and great loss for farmers . Almost 400 trains were cancelled or diverted by  Eastern Railway and East Coastal Railway . Flights ✈️ were suspended by Kolkata and Bhubaneswar Airport from 18:00 IST , October 24 to 09:00 IST , October 25. The State Government of West Bengal and Odisha took precautions and necessary actions .  NDRF ( National Disaster Response Force ) and State Disaster Response Force deployed in both states . The Indian Coast Guard was on high alerts also.
