SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP  PROGRAM / SENIOR BIGYANI KANYA MEDHA BRITTI


The Senior Scholarship program of JBNSTS is the core program that has been functioning since the birth of the institution in 1958.

This scheme caters to the development of creative undergraduate students studying  Basic Sciences, Engineering & Medicine in registered institutions of West Bengal.



Who can apply  for the test of STST / SBKMB?

Any Indian National who has passed the Higher Secondary or equivalent examination in the year of application (i.e. , current year ) and is studying B.Sc.(Hons.), Engineering or Medicine at undergraduate level in any institution, registered in West Bengal.



Application Time –

The dates of application, examination etc. are advertised in leading newspapers after the result of Higher Secondary examination (West Bengal) is declared.


Scholarship Test


It is a three phase test  –

1 . written test (1st phase)

2 . Interview (2nd phase)

3. Scientific Creativity Test (3rd and Final phase).

Only the short listed students from each phase are called for the next phase.


Written Test –
Marks – 100

Duration – 3 hrs.

Subjects – Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics ( Questions from any three subjects needed to be answered )

Syllabus – Class 12th standard


Question pattern –
Section A – 75 marks ( Questions from any 3 subjects needed to be answered )

Answer any 5 questions out of 8 questions per subject. Every question carries 5 marks. A total of 15 questions are to be answered.

Section B – 25 marks ( Questions from any 1 subject needed to be answered out of 4 subjects ) and answer 1 question out of 4 questions. There may be multiple parts within the question.

Online application – 01.06.25 to 31.07.25

Examination’s Date – 24th August, 2025

Time – 10:00 AM to 01:00 PM
( Reporting time 09:30 AM )


Benefits to Awardees

1.FOR SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: Rs. 4000/- per month & Annual Book Grant: Rs.5000/- for 4 / 4.5 / 5 years (till completion of B.Sc ( Hons ) / B.Tech / BE / MBBS / BS- MS / M.Sc).

2. FOR SENIOR BIGYANI KANYA MEDHA BRITTI: Rs. 4000/- per month and annual Book grant of Rs. 5000/- for 4 / 5 years (till completion of B.Sc ( Hons. ) / B.Tech / BE / MBBS / BS-MS / M.Sc).


3. Research grant amounting to Rs. 80,000/- (Rs. 60,000 + Rs. 20,000) per annum is awarded to JBNSTS Senior Scholars till completion of Masters Degree in Basic Science curriculum vis-a-vis DST INSPIRE norms and regulation, Government of India.

4.Scholarship certificates for all the selected scholars .

5. Top 10 boys and top 10 girls will be awarded with laptops also.

6. Engagement in different Enrichment Programs, Workshops, Research Practices, Seminars, Science Camps and Research Projects .
