Patachitra of West Bengal – Recognised by India Post – Release Postal Card and Ticket – Current English – Comprehension and Writing Skills

Patachitra is a famous folk art of West Bengal . The village Naya of Pingla, West Medinipur is famous for this  special art . Artists are known as Chitrakar. They  use natural colours made from leaves, flowers and minerals. The art generally represents the Hindu mythology . At first a canvas is made from cotton cloth or pump leaf.  It is called Pata. Then desired colours are used to represent the theme on the Pata. Now this art  is  recognised by India Post . They  released Post Card and Postal  Ticket based on the theme of the Patachitra. To facilitate this the Postal Department has organised a special programme in the Sabang Sajanikanta Mahavidyalaya  in the Sabang of West Medinipur. This Art carries our heritage and tradition . It is really a great achievement for the Art and the Artists.
