NLEA or NIFT Lateral Entry Admission

NIFT Lateral Entry Admission or NLEA – This is a programme through which a student having Diploma in relevant field of Design and Technology can get admission in the second year or third semester of the UG courses strictly on the basis of their Merit Rank .

Eligibility Requirements –
Bachelor of Design Courses –

Passed Secondary School Examination or 10th .

And

Passed 3 or 4 years diploma recognised by AICTE / AIU / UGC or State Board of Technical Education in courses related to Fashion / Apparel / Textile and Accessories / Home Science / Handloom Technology / Products / Visual Communication / Graphic Design/ Industrial Design / Interior Design/ Multimedia Design / Apparel Technology / Leather / Fine arts

Or

Passed Senior Secondary or 12th recognised by AIU .

And

Students who have completed two years of regular UG diploma programmes in NIFT after passing Senior Secondary or 12th standard.


Bachelor of Fashion Technology –


Passed Secondary School Examination or 10th .

And

Passed 3 or 4 years diploma recognised by AICTE / AIU / UGC or State Board of Technical Education in courses related to Fashion / Apparel / Textile and Accessories / Home Science / Handloom Technology.

Or


Passed Senior Secondary or 12th recognised by AIU with Physics and Mathematics.

And

Students who have completed two years of regular UG diploma programmes in NIFT after passing Senior Secondary or 12th standard.


Admission Procedure –

Bachelor of Design –

General Aptitude Test or GAT – Weightage of marks 40 – 2 hours

Studio Test – Weightage of marks 40 – 1:30 hours

Personal Interview – Weightage of marks 20



Bachelor of Fashion Technology –

General Aptitude Test or GAT – Weightage of marks 40 – 3 hours

Technical Ability Test or TAT  – Weightage of marks 40 – 1 hour

Personal Interview – Weightage of marks 20


Tentative Schedule –

Online Registration – December to January

Window to edit or update the application form – January

Admit card for GAT Exam ( Online only ) – January

GAT Exam ( CBT ) – First week of February

Answer key publication – Third week of February

Result of Entrance Examination -March

Studio Test / Technical Aptitude Test and Personal Interview and verification of documents and eligibility – April

Declaration of result of eligible candidates – April

Allotment of Programmes and Campus as per CMR or Common Merit Rank – May – June
