This is an Exam. conducted every year by NCERT or National Council of Education Research and Training to provide the prestigious scholarship to the students.
Who can appear-
Students of class X are eligible to appear in this exam from any recognised school and the students of Open and Distance Learning can also appear.
দশম শ্রেণীর ছাত্র ছাত্রীরা এতে অংশগ্রহণ করতে পারে।
Number and Amount of Scholarship
At present 2000 students can get scholarships from this scheme for their study from class xi to doctoral level in Science and Social Science and for professional courses like medicine and engineering up to 2nd degree level. Now the scholarship amounts for various classes are –
i. Rs. 1250/- per month for class xi and xii.
ii. Rs. 2000/- per month for UG and PG courses.
iii. Scholarships for Ph.D students are according to UGC norms.
২০০০ জন ছাত্র ছাত্রী একাদশ শ্রেণী থেকে ডক্টরাল লেভেল অবধি ও প্রফেশনাল কোর্সের ক্ষেত্রে দ্বিতীয় ডিগ্রী পর্যন্ত পড়াশোনার জন্য উপরোক্ত স্কলারশিপ পাবে।
Level of Examination
পরীক্ষার ধাপগুলি
Students are selected through two steps of Examination – 1. State Level Examination and 2. National Level Examination.
- i. State Level Examination is organised by the each State and UT. ii.The have the authority to conduct the Exam . iii. This is primarily a screening test to consider students for National Level . iv. The marks obtained in the State Level does not include in the National Level. v. The State can take any fee for the exam or application purposes.
2. i .The selected candidates from the State Level Exam . can appear for the National Level Examination . ii. The Seat arrangement generally happened in their own States. iii. Students don’t need to pay any fees for this Exam. iv. They will get a roll no. for this Exam. also. v. Students must get 60% marks in aggregate in their previous year or class ix Exam to appear in the National Level Test. vi. They need apply through their Head of the Institution with the attested copy of their previous year mark sheet. vii. The Indian students studying abroad in class x or equivalent can also apply directly for the National Level Exam.
Scheme of the Examination

These two level of Exam has almost same type of Scheme –
- Paper 1- Mental Ability Test or MAT – time- 120 minutes. 09:30 am to 11:30 am . 30 minutes extra for visually challenged candidates. Number of questions – 100. Number of Marks – 100.
- Paper 2- Scholastic Aptitude Test or SAT – time- 120 minutes . 13:30 pmto 15:30 pm . 30 minutes extra for visually challenged candidates. – number of Questions- 100 ( Science – 40, Mathematics – 20, Social Science – 40 ) – number of Marks – 100.

1.There is no negative marking in this Exam. at present. 2. In the State Level and National Level Exam. only students qualifying in both papers separately will be considered and their selection will be on the basis of total marks scored in MAT and SAT. 3. The State Level Exam. generally happened on 1st Sunday of November .( Except in Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya and Andaman & Nicobar , where Exam. held on 1st Saturday of November ) . 4. Generally result of the State Level Exam. published in January or February every year. 5. National Level Exam . generally held on 2nd Sunday of May every year ( though in 2020 it is postponed due to COVID- 19 situation ). 6. Students need to give answer on OMR sheet . 7. The questions will be of MCQ type. 8.The students can appear in the National Level Exam. in different languages include Asamiya, Bangla, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu . 9. Candidate will get scholarships for their study in India .
