National Sports Award 2023

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports announced the National Sports Award 2023 to honour individuals and institutions that have performed excellently to honour our nation. Honourable President of India, Droupadi Murmu has conferred the awards to various sports persons at the Rashtrapati Bhawan on 9th January.

Recipients of the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award –

Chirag Shetty ( Badminton )
Satwik Sairaj Rankireddy ( Badminton )


Though they were not present in the ceremony because they were playing in the Malaysia Open Super 1000.

They managed their first ever Asian Games gold, which is also the first ever gold for India in Asian Games in badminton . They also secured the Asian Championship title and the Indonesia Open Super 1000 title. The recipient of this award get a cash prize of Rs. 25 lakh .
