JBNSTS Junior Scholarship Programme / Junior Bigyani Kanya Medha Britti

JBNSTS took the initiative to start a Junior Talent Search Test from 2015 for class XI Science students of West Bengal.

JBNSTS had initiated an exclusive program for the talented girl students of our state pursuing science in higher secondary framework of education. It was started in 2020 under the support of the Department of Science and Technology & Biotechnology, Government of West Bengal..


Eligibility –

The students who have passed their 10th standard or equivalent examinations with 75% marks in aggregate and taken admission in class XI in science stream (with atleast 3 subjects from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Statistics and Computer Science) in the year of application.

Only the girl students are eligible for  the Junior Bigyani Kanya Medha Britti Scholarship Test.

Test Pattern –

It is a bi-phasic test involving a written test (1st Phase) and Interview (Final Phase).

On the basis of the performance of the written test, short listed candidates are selected for the interview.

Finally, on the basis of the performance of both written test and interview, a list of Junior scholars is announced.

Total marks – 90

Subjects and marks –
Physical Science – 30 marks
Life Science – 30 marks
Mathematics – 30 marks

Questions and marks – 6 questions to be answered from each subject. Each question carries 5 marks.

There will not be any optional question.

There may be multiple parts in a question.

Syllabus – Class 10th standard

Exam duration – 2 hours

The dates of application and details about the examination are advertised in leading newspapers and the website of the JBNSTS after the result of the 10th standard board examination .

This year’s online application procedure is open from 01.06.25 to 31.07.25.

Date of Examination – 24th August


Exam timing – 12:00 noon to 02:00 PM
Reporting time – 11:30 AM


Benefits to Awardees

1 . FOR JUNIOR SCHOLARSHIP : Rs. 1250/- per month  for 2 years (till completion of 12th standard examination).


2 . FOR JUNIOR BIGYANI KANYA MEDHA BRITTI: Rs. 1250/- per month  for 2 years (till completion of 12th standard examination).

3. Annual Book Grant of Rs.2500/-

4. Exposures to seminars and workshops designed for the young scholars.


























Best School Award

Every year “Best School Award” is declared for the school from where maximum numbers of students are selected as JBNSTS scholar for that specific year.
