Indian Women’s National Cricket team won their maiden ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup by defeating South African Women’s National Cricket team by 52 runs in the final on 2nd November, 2025 at Dr. DY Patil stadium in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra. India was the host country and they lifted the trophy. It was the 13th edition of the tournament. Eight teams participated in the tournament. Though Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur lost the toss ,  India batted first and put a score of 298/ 7 after 50 overs. Though they failed to cross the 300 runs, it was the second highest score in any Women’s Cricket World Cup final. A commanding opening partnership of 100 runs between Shafali Verma (87 ) and Smriti Mandhana ( 45 ) helped India to put up a commanding total. Shafali Verma scored 87 runs , Deepti Sharma scored 58 and Richa Ghosh played a lovely cameo of 34 runs in the end. Ayabonga Khapa took 3 wickets for 58 runs for South Africa . In reply, the South African captain Laura Wollvardt started really well and scored a brilliant century. She scored 101 runs and became the first captain to score a century in the final. Deepti Sharma took 5 wickets and conceded just 39 runs. Shafali Verma took 2 wickets and conceded 36 runs . She became the Player of the match for her all-round performance. Deepti Sharma took the most number of wickets (22 wickets ) in the tournament. She also played a crucial role with her bat. She became the Player of the series. Laura Wollvardt scored the most runs ( 571 runs )  in the tournament. India’s head coach Amol Muzumdar brilliantly guided the team . Overall it was a great achievement for the Indian Women’s National Cricket team and will surely help to inspire many women to play cricket.
