It’s time for joy in Kolkata and West Bengal. ATK Mohun Bagan brought the ISL ( Indian Super League ) crown to the city by winning the championship on 18.03.2023 . They defeated Bengaluru FC 4-3 on penalties in the final at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa . Both Head Coaches , Juan Ferrando of ATKMB and Simon Grayson of Bengaluru FC tried their strategies but in regulation time it was 2-2 draw . They were inseparable upto the extra time . Dimitri Petratos scored two goals for ATKMB . Sunil Chhetri and Roy Krishna scored one goal each for Bengaluru FC. No goal was scored by either side even during the extra time. In the penalty shoot – out ATKMB stepped up to win the trophy . Their goalkeeper Vishal Kaith saved the shot of Bruno Ramires and Pablo Perez of Bengaluru FC sent his kick over the bar . Then Mariners ATK Mohun Bagan sealed the victory.
As the winner of 2022-23 season ATK Mohun Bagan received a prize money of Rs 6 crore and runners -up Bengaluru FC received Rs 2.5 crore .
In the final Jindal Panther of the Match award went to Vishal Kaith, goalkeeper, ATK Mohun Bagan and Hero of the Match award went to Dimitri Petratos from the same team .
In the season Best Pitch Award went to Kerala Blasters FC , Grassroots Award went to Bengaluru FC and FC Goa, KFC Street Baller of the League Award went to Noah Sadaoui , FC Goa . Jindal Panther Golden Glove Award winner is Vishal Kaith , ATK Mohun Bagan. Golden Boot Winner is Diego Mauricio , Odisha FC who scored 12 goals playing least number of minutes than other two who also scored 12 goals ( Dimitri Petratos, ATK Mohun Bagan and Cleiton Silva, East Bengal ) . Emerging Player of the League Award went to Siva Shakti Narayan, Bengaluru FC and Hero of the League Award went to Lallianzuala Chhangte , Mumbai City FC . Sanjiv Goenka, owner of ATK Mohun Bagan also announced after winning the match that they will remove ATK prefix from the name of the Club and from the next season the team will appear as Mohun Bagan Super Giants .
