The ICC men’s cricket world cup is just over now. India hosted the ICC men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 . Ten countries participated in the tournament.The host nation finished the campaign as the runners up after being defeated by Australia in the final on 19th November, Sunday at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, Gujrat. It is the largest cricket stadium in the world. Unfortunately After a great performance throughout the tournament India was not able to hold the trophy .Now Australia is having their sixth World Cup title . In the final Australian captain Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bowl first. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma started well but wasn’t able to carry on. Virat Kohli and KLRahul scored half centuries but those were not enough to get a higher score. India managed to get only 240/9 after 50 overs. Though Australia lost three early wickets, Travis Head scored 137 runs in just 120 balls and Marnus Labuschagne remained not out with 58 runs . Australia won the match convincingly by six wickets and just after 43 overs. Travis Head was chosen Player of the match .Virat Kohli received the Player of the Series award and scored most runs ( 765 runs ) in the tournament. It is an all time record of scoring most number of runs by a cricketer in a world cup. He also became the first cricketer to complete the 50th century in ODI matches after scoring his third century in this world cup against New Zealand in the semi final. Mohammad Shami took 24 wickets to get the most number of wickets in this world cup. He also took a total 55 wickets in world cups and now has the most number of wickets among Indian bowlers.
