Garba of Gujarat is now in the UNESCO representative list in the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity

Garba of Gujarat – inscribed in UNESCO representative list – in Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity category – in the 18th session in Kasane, Botsowana from 5th to 9th December – It is India’s 15th inscription in this list – Garba is a traditional dance of Gujarat – It is celebrated for nine days – during festival of Navratri – This festival is associated with the worship of Shakti or feminine energy – the the dance is celebrated in temples, villages, open spaces, public places and urban squares – it is a part of integrity – a sign of of socio – economic and cultural equality – Rickshaws and Rickshaw painting of Dhaka from our neighbouring country Bangladesh is also in the list
