Name of the Exam – SAT . Originally called Scholastic Aptitude Test and later called Scholastic Assessment Test.

Organised by- College Board , Education Testing Service
Purpose – To admit in Undergraduate Programs in US Universities or Colleges. Also accepted in Canada , UK and Australia.
Exam type – Presently paper based . Can be online from 2023.
Eligibility– No official prerequisite but high school students want to admit in Undergraduate Programs in US can appear.
Age – No age limit defined.
Structure – The Exam has mainly two sections – 1. EBRW or Evidence Based Reading and Writing , normally English portion. 2. Math Section.
These are again divided into-
i) Reading– 52 questions, 65 minutes
ii) Writing and Language – 44 questions , 35 minutes
iii)Math with calculator – 20 questions, 25 minutes
iv) Math without calculator – 38 questions, 55 minutes
There is an optional section – Essay Writing
Duration – For compulsory two sections 3 hours and for optional section 50 minutes .
Scores – Scores of compulsory sections are taken . Section wise score is calculated on a scale of 200 to 800. Total score above 1200 is good score.
