Exam Name – Joint Entrance Examination (MAIN)
Conducted by – NTA or National Testing Agency
Objectives of the Exam – 1. Gateway for the JEE ( Advanced ) Exam for admission in IITs .
2. To admit in Undergraduate Engineering Programs ( B.E or B.Tech. ) in NITs , IIITs, IIEST , other CFTIs or Centrally Funded Technical Institutions, Universities or Institutions funded or recognised by participating State Governments.
3. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University ( AKTU ), Lucknow and Madan Mohan Malviya University of Technology, Gorakhpur also started to use JEE ( Main ) score sheet for the admission inin B.Tech/ Integrated M.Tech/ B.Arch in its affiliated colleges from 2021.
4. Paper 2 is conducted for the admission in B.Arch and B.Planning Courses in the country.
Eligibility – Class XII passed or appeared students with Physics, Chemistry, Math.
Examination Scheme –
1.Paper 1 ( B.E. or B. Tech ) –Computer Based Test in Physics, Chemistry,Math
2. Paper 2 A ( B.Arch. ) – Mathematics (Part – I ) and Aptitude Test ( Part – II ) are Computer Based Test . Drawing Test (Paper III ) is pen and paper or offline exam .
3. Paper 2 B (B. Planning ) – Mathematics (Part – I) , Aptitude Test ( Part – II ) and Planning Based Test ( Part – III ) are Computer Based Test.
Duration – 3 hours and 4 hours for PWD candidates. For B.Arch + B. Planning – 3:30 hrs
Subject Combination required for NITs, IIITs, CFTIs –
1. B.E. or B.Tech.- Passed qualifying exam with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry or Biotechnology or Biology or Technical Vocational Subjects.
2. B.Arch.- Passed qualifying exam with Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry.
3.B.Planning – Passed qualifying exam with Mathematics.
Exam is conducted twice a year.
