Exam Talk – GPAT or Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test

Name of the Examination– Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test or GPAT

Examination conducted by- NTA or National Testing Agency

Time of Application – Generally in February.

The Test’s Importance– GPAT or Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test is a national level entrance exam for admission to the M.Pharm programmes in the country. The test facilitates participating institutions to select suitable graduate students for admission in the Pharmacy courses in Post Graduate level.

NTA has no role in counselling process. Candidates must apply seperately to the desired GPAT participating institutions with GPAT score and institutions can seperately mentioned cut off score. Candidates then may have to clear the selection process of those institutions. May be appear in GD or Group Discussion and PI or Personal Interview.

Examination Pattern –

1. Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Allied Subjects – 38 questions – 152 marks

2. Pharmaceutics and Allied Subjects – 38 questions – 152 marks

3. Pharmacognosy and Allied Subjects – 10 questions – 40 marks

4. Pharmacology and Allied Subjects – 28 questions – 112 marks.

5. Other Subjects – 11 questions – 44 marks

Timing– Three hours.

Other important points

1. Syllabus will be prescribed by AICTE.

2. Computer Based Test.

3. Medium of question paper – English.

4. Marks per question – 4.

5. Negative marking of 1 mark for every wrong answer.

Eligibility – 1. Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy ( 10+2+4 ) or equivalent from a recognised university. Candidates appearing in the final year of the B.Pharm can also but their result must be published before the commencement of admission in the academic year.

2. B.Tech ( Pharmaceutical and Fine Chemical Technology) / equivalent can’t apply.

3. There is no age bar for appearing in the examination.
