EXAM TALK – ANM ( R ) and GNM Courses in West Bengal – WBJEEB

ANM(R) and GNM Nursing Courses in West Bengal

Joint Entrance to admit in ANM (R ) or Auxiliary Nursing & Midwifery
( Revised ) Course and GNM or General Nursing & Midwifery Course , 2024 in various Govt. / Pvt. /Self -financed institutes in West Bengal.

Exam. will be taken by WBJEEB or West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board.

Duration of the Course– 1. ANM (R)- Two years.

2 . GNM- Three years.

Eligibility – 1. Applicants must be a citizen of India.
2. Minimum age – 17 years as on 31.07.204 i.e., born on or before 31.07.2007.

Maximum age – No upper age limit

3. Gender – i. For ANM(R) – Female only; ii. for GNM – Male and Female.

4. Residence – i. For ANM(R) – Must be a permanent residence of West Bengal for at least last  ten years uninterruptedly till 31.12.2023  .

ii. For GNM – Must be a permanent resident of West Bengal for at least  last ten years uninterruptedly till 31.12.2023.

5. Language – Applicant must be able to read, write and express in Bengali and / or Nepali.

6. Educational Qualification – i. 10+2 passed with at least 40% marks in aggregate.

ii. Must pass in English in 10+2.

iii. Candidates passed 10+2 in Vocational Stream under CBSE board – must be from Health Care Science discipline .

iv. Candidates passed 10+2 in Vocational Stream under WBCHSE , 2023 onwards , who opted for Healthcare Science under ‘Community Healthcare’ Group must pass in any two from the following combination of subjects –

Community Health Counselor ( COHC )

Patient Care Assistant ( PTCA )

Public Health and First Aid ( PHFA )

iv. Candidates passed 10+2 in Vocational Stream under WBCHSE , before 2023 with ‘Community Healthcare’ Group under Hone Science Discipline with combination of three vocational papers namely –

Community Nutrition

Hospital Management

Public Health and First Aid




7. All candidates must be medically fit for the course and produce a medical Fitness Certificate in the format given in appendix – 3 at the time of admission.



Pattern of Exam. – 1. The questions will be from following section –

i. Life Sciences ( ten standard ) – 30 questions with 1 mark and 10 questions with 2 marks – Total 40 questions with 50 marks

ii. Physical Science ( ten standard ) – 15 questions with 1 mark and 5 questions with 2 marks – total 20 questions and 25 marks

iii. Basic English ( 12th standard) – 15 questions with 1 mark- total 15 marks

iv. Mathematics ( ten standard ) – 10 questions with 1 mark and total 10 marks


v. General Knowledge( 12 th standard ) – 10 questions with 1 mark total 10 marks

vi. Logical Reasoning ( 12th standard ) – 5 questions with 1 mark total 5 marks

Total – 100 questions and 115 marks

2. All questions will be MCQ or Multiple Choice Questions with four options.

3. Questions will be answered on a OMR sheet.


4. For every wrong answer there will be 1/4 negative marks.

5. Exam time – 1 hr 30 minutes

6. Probable Registration time – March – April

6. Probable Exam time  – June or  July
