EWS Quota and A Historical Verdict

A historical judgement was given by the Supreme Court of India to upheld EWS or Economically Weaker Section quota for 10 percent reservation in higher education and government jobs. Decision was taken at first by the Government of India through the process of 103rd Constitutional ammendment. A five judge bench of the Supreme Court provided the verdict in 3-2 majority. The bench included CJI – UU Lalit , Justices – Dinesh Maheswari, S Ravindra Bhat, Bela M Trivedi and J B Pardiwala. Now it became total reservation of 59.5 percent .
