‘Not only …… but also’ is a correlative conjunction that connects two balanced words or phrases or parts of a sentence.
Rules of use –
It connects two balanced parts or words or phrases . That means there must be a parallel structure in the sentence or the parts of speech for each part must be the same.
When we connect two clauses which are complete sentences , we use a comma to separate them.

Present Tense –
He not only plays cricket but also football .
Not only does she teach us well, but she also guides us well.
Susan is not only brilliant but also creative.
Past Tense –
Not only was it a good movie but also entertaining.

Not only will they visit the market but also the park.
