Former Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh is no more. He died on 26th December , 2024, Thursday at the age of 92 due to age related medical conditions . He was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences ( AIIMS ), Delhi. He was the Prime Minister of India for two terms from 2004 to 2014 in the Congress – led UPA or United Progressive Alliance government. He was born on 26th September, 1932 in Gah, Punjab Province, British India ( presently at Punjab, Pakistan ) . He left his wife Gurcharan Singh and three daughters. He was a scholar of Punjab University, St. John’s College, Chambridy and Nuffield College, Oxford . He was the 13th Prime Minister of India. He was the architect of the economic reforms of India in 1991 while he was the Union finance minister of India and PV Narsimha Rao was the Prime Minister. He liberalised the Indian Economy. He was the 22nd Union finance minister of India. He was the Member of the Parliament, Rajya Sabha from 1991 to 2019 in Assam constituency and from 2019 to 2024 in Rajasthan constituency. He was also the 15th Governor of the Reserve Bank of India from 1982 to 1985. He was the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission of India from 1985 to 1987. He was honoured with the Order of King Abdulaziz, Saudi Arabia in 2010 and Order of Paulownia Flowers , Japan in 2014. He was awarded with Padma Vibhushan in 1987 . The Government of India announced a period of National mouring until 1st January, 2025. He was cremated with full state honours on 28th December , Saturday at Nigambodh Ghat in New Delhi.
