Devastating Flood in Tripura

Devastating flood affected Tripura – due to heavy rainfall from 18th August Sunday – most rivers overflowed – specially the overflowing of river Gomti – worsen the condition – large area flooded – most affected areas included- state capital, Agartala , Dharmanagar in North Tripura , Kailashahar, Kumargarh in Unakoti district,  Kamalpur and other areas in Dhalai district – also affected Bishalgarh and Sonamura in Sepahijala, Teliamura, Khowai, Udaipur, Udaipur, Karbook , Amarpoor and other areas in South Tripura and West Tripura districts – State Disaster Response Force ( SDRF ) , National Disaster Response Force ( NDRF ) and central paramilitary forces , including Assam Rifles, Tripura State Reliefs jawans  engaged in rescue operation – also landslides and mudslides – almost 2588  labdslides – over 17 lakh people affected – nearly 128000 people sought shelter in 558 relief camps – almost 31 people died – over 1055 houses are fully or partially damaged – almost 5000 hectares of vegetable farms and 1.20 lakh hectares of other croplands affected – 1603 electric posts damaged –  as per Tripura CM Manik Saha , an estimated loss of Rs.15000 crore caused – the government announced Rs. 4 lakh each to the families of died persons – Rs. 2.5 lakh for injured persons
