Sikkim flash flood – 04th October,2023 – heavy rainfall – outbursts of the South Lhonak lake – a glacier lake outburst flood in Teesta river – destroyed the Teesta III dam – affected large area – Mangan, Gangtok,Pakyong, Namchi districts of Sikkim and Coochbehar, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts of West Bengal – huge damage – almost 15 bridges damaged – more than 70 people are killed and many people are still missing – 23 Army personnel were missing – till now 10 of them are died – more than 60000 people are affected – thousands of people are evacuated in past few days – thousands of tourists stranded – rescue operation by NDRF, Air Force, Army and Administration – State Government and Central Government announced relief
