International Federation of Film Critics ( FIPRESCI ) has declared the list of top ten Indian Film of all time . ‘ Pather Panchali ‘ , feature of a legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray has been declared as the best Indian film of all time. It was decided through a poll conducted by the India chapter of the organisation. The film ‘ Pather Panchali ‘ was based on the novel ‘ Pather Panchali ‘ of great Indian writer Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay. The film was produced in 1955. It was the first part of the famous ‘ Apu Trilogy ‘ of Satyajit Ray. ‘ Meghe Dhaka Tara ‘ ( made in 1960 ) of Ritwik Ghatak has been declared as the second best and Mrinal Sen’s ‘ Bhuvan Shome ‘ ( Hindi – made in 1969 ) grabbed the third position.
Adur Gopalakrishnan’s ‘ Elippathayam ‘ ( Malayalam, made in 1981 ) grabbed the fourth position. Girish Kadaravalli’s film ‘ Ghatashraddha ‘ ( Kannada, made in 1977 ) has been declared as fifth best. A 1973 Hindi movie ‘ Garm Hava ‘ of MS Sathyu selected as the sixth best. Again a Satyajit Ray ‘ s film ‘Charulata’ ( Bengali, made in 1964 ) recieved the seventh position. ‘ Ankur ‘ , a 1974 Hindi movie of Shyam Benegal has been declared as the eighth best. Guru Dutt’s 1954 Hindi film ‘ Pyaasa’ grabbed the ninth position. ‘ Sholay ‘ a 1975 Hindi blockbuster movie , directed by Ramesh Sippy , has been declared as the tenth best Indian movie.
