India made a history by winning first ever Thomas Cup title in 2022. It was the 32nd edition of this prestigious international badminton tournament for men’s . India defeated the defending champion Indonesia in the final on 15th May at Impact Arena, Thailand. The tournament was started on 8th May and hosted in Thailand. 16 nations participated in the tournament. India defeated Malaysia in the quarter final by 3-2 and Denmark in the semi final also by 3-2. In the final it was a fight against the 14th time champion Indonesia. But the outstanding Indian team won the title with 3-0 . In the first game Lakshya Sen of India defeated Anthony Ginting of Indonesia by 8-21, 21-17, 21-16 . Despite a loss in the first set he came back to win the next two sets and the game to score 1-0 in favour of India and started the campaign of final perfectly. In the second game doubles duo from India Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty defeated Mohammad Ahsan and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo by 18-21, 23-21, 21-19 . They also lost their first set but came back nicely to win the game for India to make 2-0. In the third game Kidambi Srikanth of India defeated Jonathan Christie of Indonesia in straight games by 21-15 , 23-21 to make the score 3-0 and completed the victory to win the prestigious title for India .
