IPL or Indian Premier League 2024 is over now. It was the 17th season of the tournament.This T20 league is organised by BCCI ( Board of Control for Cricket in India ) Kolkata Knight Riders ( KKR ) won the title in this season by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad ( SRH ) in the final on 26th May at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium , Chennai . It is their third title . After a league of clashes among ten teams top two teams of the point table met in the Qualifier 1 at Ahmedabad. They were Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad. KKR beat SRH to reach the final. Third and fourth team of the point table met against each other in the Eliminator at Ahmedabad. They were Rajasthan Royals ( RR ) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru ( RCB ) . RR defeated RCB to play against SRH in the Qualifier 2 at Chennai. SRH beat RR to reach the final. In the final SRH captain Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bat first. KKR bowled superbly and SRH managed to score just 113 after 18.3 overs and all out. Pat Cummins scored the highest run of 24 in 19 balls for them . Andre Russell was the top performer among the bowlers for KKR and he took 3 wickets and conceded just 19 runs in 2.3 overs . In reply KKR finished the match in just 10.3 overs and scored 114 runs by losing just 2 wickets. They won the final by 8 wickets and 57 balls were still left . Venkatesh Iyer scored highest runs for KKR . He scored 52 runs not out in just 26 balls. It was a great achievement for their skipper Shreyas Iyer also as he won an IPL as a captain for the first time ever . Player of the Match award went to Mitchell Starc of KKR for his excellent and match winning bowling spell in the final. Viral Kohli of RCB achieved the Orange Cap for scoring most runs ( 741 runs ) in the tournament. Harshal Patel of Punjab Kings achieved the Purple Cap for taking most wickets ( 24 wickets ) in the tournament. Most valuable player award went to Sunil Narine of KKR . Emerging Player of the Season award went to Nitish Kumar Reddy of SRH. Electric Striker of the Season award went to Jake Fraser – McGurk of Delhi Capitals. Ultimate Fantasy Player of the Season award went to Sunil Narine of KKR . Abhishek Sharma of SRH achieved the award of heating most sixes in the final ( 42 sixes ) and Travis Head of SRH achieved the award of heating most number of fours ( 64 fours ) in the tournament. Best Catch of the Season award went to Ramandeep Singh of KKR . Team Fairplay award went to SRH .
