A huge amount of lithium reserve , found in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir by Geological Survey of India or GSI . It is a great achievement . GSI for the first time in history found lithium inferred resources ( G3 ) in the Salal -Haimana area of the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir . A reserve of 5.9 million ton had been found , which is also of the best quality. Lithium is a very critical type of resource which was not found in India before this. The lithium found in J&K is of 500 ppm-plus grading , which is very high standard . It is going to be great for the development of Electric Vehicles industry because lithium is one of the key elements to manufacture EV batteries . It will also can bring bright future for the local people also .
51 minerals blocks were handed over to State Government including this lithium block, 5 gold blocks and other blocks containing other minerals like potash, molybdenum etc.
These blocks are situated in Jammu and Kashmir , Andhra Pradesh , Chhattishgarh , Gujarat, Jharkhand ,Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh , Odisha , Rajasthan , Tamil Nadu, Telengana .
