Indian Premier League 2023 ( TATA IPL ) is just over now . It is the 16th edition of the tournament. The tournament is organised by the BCCI or Board of Cricket Control in India . It is a franchise based T20 tournament. In this edition 10 teams were participated in the tournament and they are – Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians ,Lucknow Super Giants, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders , Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore , Sunrisers Hyderabad. Chennai Super Kings won the trophy by defeating defending champion Gujarat Titans in the final . CSK grabbed their fifth title . They are now equal with Mumbai Indians to get most number of IPL trophy . After an interesting group stage competition, four teams were ranked in top fours to qualify for the qualifier or elimination round . Gujarat Titans topped the table and Chennai Super Kings became the second ranked team . They played with each other in the first qualifier where Chennai Super Kings defeated Gujarat Titans to reach the final . In the elimination match Mumbai Indians defeated Lucknow Super Giants and reached the qualifier 2. In qualifier 2 Gujarat Titans defeated Mumbai Indians to reach the final . The final match was scheduled to be held on 28th May, Sunday but it was not possible due to heavy rain . The match was rescheduled on 29th May, Monday in Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Chennai Super Kings’ captain Mahinder Singh Dhoni won the toss and elected to field first . Gujarat Titans’ skipper Hardik Pandya and his team reacted well to score 214/4 in twenty overs. Sai Sudarshan scored brilliant 96 runs in just 47 balls for them and Matheesha Pathirana took two wickets for 44 runs in his 4 overs for CSK . Again the match was rescheduled to a 15 over match due to delayed by rain . Chennai Super Kings achieved the target of 171 runs in 15 overs . ( DLS method) . Devon Conway scored 47 runs in 25 balls for CSK and Mohit Sharma took three wickets for 36 runs in his 3 overs for GT . Chennai Super Kings needed ten runs in last two balls. Ravindra Jadeja heated a six and a four to reach the goal . Devon Conway of Chennai Super Kings became the Player of the match . Subhman Gill of Gujarat Titans became the Player of the season . He also achieved the Orange Cap by scoring most runs in the tournament ( 890 runs ). He also achieved the Gamechanger of the season award and also awarded for heating most fours in the season . Mohammad Shami of Gujarat Titans achieved the Purple Cap by taking most numbers of wickets ( 28 wickets ). Delhi Capitals won the Team fairplay award . Rashid Khan of Gujarat Titans won the Catch of the season award . Yashasvi Jaiswal of Rajasthan Royals achieved the Emerging player of the season award . Faf du Plessis of Royal Challengers Bangalore achieved the award for heating most sixes and also an award for heating the longest six of the season . Glenn Maxwell of Royal Challengers Bangalore achieved the Super striker of the season award.
