Commonwealth Games 2022 and India – Current English Practice Set and Current Affairs

Commonwealth Games 2022 happened at Birmingham, England from 28th July to 8th August. India competed in 16 sports and 210 competitors participated in the games including 106 men and 104 women. India finished at rank 4th in the games with 22 gold, 16 silver, 23 bronze and total 61 medals. Manpreet Singh and P. V. Sindhu were the Flag bearer for India in the opening ceremony and Nikhat Zareen and Sharath Achanta were the Flag bearer for India in the closing ceremony. 72 Commonwealth nations participated in the games. Australia ranked no. 1 in the medal tally with 67 gold, 57 silver, 54 bronze and total 178 medals. England finished at no. 2 with 57 gold, 66 silver, 53 bronze and total 176 medals. Canada finished at no. 3 with 26 gold, 32 silver, 34 bronze and total 92 medals.

In team events – Indian badminton team won the silver medal in mixed team event, Indian Women’s cricket team also won the silver medal, Indian Men’s hockey team won the silver medal. Indian Women’s hockey team won the bronze medal.
