Blast from the Past — Observations led by the PRL scientist enables breakthrough in centuries-old effort to unravel astronomical mystery – ISRO

An International team of astronomers led by PRL Scientists have discovered that a bright new star, named CK Vulpeculae, first seen in1670, is approximately five times farther away than previously thought. This makes the explosion of this star in 1670 much more energetic than previously estimated and it is classified as a mysterious class of objects that are too bright to be classified as a well understood explosions known as Novae, but too faint to be Supernovae.
