The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters announced the Abel Prize for the year of 2025. It is an award for the exceptional achievers in the field of Mathematics. The Abel Laureate 2025 is Masaki Kashiwara from the Research Institute for Mathematical Sciences, Kyoto University, Japan and Kyoto University for Advanced Study, Japan . He has achieved the award for his ‘contributions to algebraic analysis and representation theory, in particular the development of the theory of D- modules and the discovery of crystal bases.’ The name of the recipient of this award was announced on 26th March, 2026. The Abel Prize distribution ceremony has been organised in the University of Aula at the University of Oslo Ceremonial Hall on 20th May. The honourable King Herald V will award the prize to the recipient.
