A Devastating earthquake affected Myanmar so badly. It was on 28th March, 2025 in Sagaing region. The epicenter was near Mandalay , the second largest city of Myanmar. The magnitude was 7.7 on the Richter scale and the duration was 85 seconds . It originated in a depth of 10 km. Almost 170 aftershocks were observed. It brought excessive damage to the country . People came out onto the street and took shelter there. It also affected neighbouring country Thailand and hundreds of homes were also damaged in Yunnan, China . Few parts of India also felt the earthquake .More than 3000 people died in Myanmar and 22 people died in Thailand till date, thousands are injured and missing. Many properties are damaged . Myanmar is a country in a High risk zone of earthquake . Sagaing fault is situated in the region and the earthquake was a strike slip. Two blocks moved horizontally with each other . It was so devastating. Rescue and relief operations started and are ongoing. Many countries sent help , relief and financial support.
