Another 8th March and we are celebrating International Women’s Day world wide. We should try for gender equality and women empowerment in every aspect of life and in sectors of the economy also.
But there are challenges. One of these is a $360 billion annual deficit in gender equality measures by 2030. In 1984 Australia showed a path to introduce the world’s first Women’s Budget Statement . But still now internationally just 5% of government aid is focused on tackling violence against women and girls and less than 0.2% is directed to its prevention.
UN theme for the day for this year is –
“ Invest in women : Accelerate Progress.”
As per UN , there are five key areas needing joint actions –
1 . Investing in women, a human rights issue.
2 . Ending poverty.
3 . Implementing gender – responsive financing .
4 . Shifting to a green economy and care society.
5 . Supporting feminist change – makers.
Events of the day –
1 . Write a newspaper report based on the International Women’s Day.
2 . Write a paragraph on International Women’s Day.
3 . Write a notice as the Headmaster/ Headmistress or Principal of a school or college to organize and essay competition on the subject of women empowerment.
4. Suppose a monthly magazine for women has notified its readers for the submission of unique posters and stories related to International Women’s Day. Write a letter to the editor of the magazine for the submission of your creative work.
