The 49th International Kolkata Book Fair was held from 22nd January to 3rd February 2026 in Boimela Ground , Salt Lake City, Kolkata. It was organised by the Publishers and Book Sellers Guild . Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee inaugurated the event. The focal theme country was Argentina. There were more than one thousand stalls including a little magazine pavilion, food courts, seminar and conference hall , press corner and all the necessary arrangements. Germany, France , Japan, Great Britain , Thailand, China, Australia , Peru , Columbia and many other countries participated in the fair. In the inauguration ceremony the lifetime achievement award was given to Swapnomoy Chakraborty, former official of Akashvani. The fair was started for the first time in the year of 1976. It is one of Asia’s largest literary events.
