18th Parliamentary Election in India

The 18th Parliamentary Election is over now in India. The election was held in seven phases on seven days from 19th April to 1st June. The result was published on 4th June, 2024 . Almost 968 million people among 1.4 billion were eligible for casting their votes. Among them 642 million voters participated in the election. This was continued for 44 days and the second only to the 1951-52 general election as per the total duration of the election procedure. In this election the  National Democratic Alliance (NDA) including BJP  secured 293 seats and among which Bharatiya Janata Party or BJP got 240 seats .  Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance ( INDIA ) including Congress secured 234 seats and Indian National Congress or INC  got 99 seats. 272 seats were needed for the majority out of a total of 543 seats. So the NDA alliance formed the government led by  Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister for the third time in a row. This happened for the second time in the history of Independence India only after Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India. PM Modi and other members of ministry took oath on Sunday, 09th June, 2024 at evening in Rastrapati Bhawan of India.
